Description:

A single letter (29 November, 1974) from George L Ellis (Assistant Vice President, The National Bank of Commerce, Seattle, London Branch) concerning "the Devis portrait of Admiral Peter Rainier, which was at one time in the collection of the Reverend W S Halliday...." The letter refers to Admiral Rainier as "your illustrious ancestor" and to the proposed re-naming of the Bank as "Rainier National Bank", reflecting the Washington mountain-landmark named after Admiral Rainier.
