This collection consists of self-prepared Christmas cards sent by Mr and Mrs Albert Pile to Mr and Mrs Ronald Carr-Webb. The cards contain etchings of Wakefield and North Lancing Church and Indian ink sketches of Old Fylingdale Church, Goathland Church and "in Old Whitby".

Albert Thomas Pile, MSM, FRSA, SGA was born in London, and studied at the Central School, Goldsmith's, Camberwell and Bournemouth Colleges of Art. He first visited Whitby on sketching holidays in the early 1940s. A civil servant, during the Second World War he was an official artist to the Information Ministry. He lived in Whitby in retirement and was a member of the Fylingdales Group.
