The donor was born Elizabeth Jane M'Cord Harris in 1907 in Wesham, Lancs. When she left school she went to work as a warper in Thomas Moss & Sons in Wesham were her moth already worked. Her father worked on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Co. as a shunter.

 

was a soldier during the first World War but had a bad heart and was invalided out. He never fully recovered and died in 1919. The donor was born in Billington Street, Wesham, then the family moved to a fruit-shop which the donor's father rented for a few years and later family moved to Whitworth Street, Wesham. The donor married in 1930.
