Administrative / biographical background: |
The Oratory R.C. School opened in 1856 for boys and girls. It was apparently re established in 1862 and there were two departments for boys and for girls with infants. A new Mixed Department opened in 1882; and a new Boys Department opened in 1924 in buildings of the former St. Philip's Grammar School, Oliver Road. The school was reorganised in 1947 into two departments for senior mixed and junior and infant children. It became an aided school in 1952. |
