Three articles (typescripts) by Colin Barnes: "The British Military Mission to Saudi Arabia 1946-1951" (2 sheets); "A Short History of The Trucial Oman Levies, Trucial Oman Scouts and The Union Defence Force of the Trucial States (later United Arab Emirates) of the Arabian Gulf, 1951 to 1972" (4 sheets); "Audiences with His Imperial Majesty The Emperor Haille Selaisse of Ethiopia" (5 sheets). In addition, a colour photograph showing s distant view of The Palace at Abu Dhabi (pre-1969), and a letter (26 February, 1969, copy) from Zaid Bin Sultan to Emperor Hailee Salasee (sic) introducing "Major Colin Barnes MBE". Lt Col Colin Barnes, MBE, FRGS, served with the Sultan's Armed Forces in Oman, the Transjordan Frontier Force, the British Military Mission to Saudi Arabia, the Trucial Oman Levies and Scouts, and the Abu Dhabi Defence Force. He also worked for the Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa, and for the Desert Locust Survey in a number of African countries.
