Lease for term of 5 years [grant of wardship of land during minority]

 

John de Wylyngtone, lord of Conertone = (1) Sir Thomas Le Ercedekne = (2)

 

Indenture in form of chirograph: (1) to (2), the custody of 2 parts of Conertone manor, with 2 parts of the hundred of Penwyth; reserving the advowsons of churches. (1) has this custody by reason of the minority of John son and heir of John de Arundel, who held the manor of (1) by knight's service. For (2) to hold until John comes to full age, that is for term of 5 years from the present day. Rent to (1) £22 10s 8d yearly, payable at Lanceueton Priory next Michaelmas and on the nativity of St John Baptist in the following years, for all service except royal service. If John [de Arundel] dies within 5 years (quod absit), then (2) shall hold them of (1) for the full term. Warranty.
