Chapter Seven from Professor Roy Newton's unpublished autobiography covering his experiences during the Second World War. The fourteen typewritten pages cover his work in research into the military applications and production of synthetic rubber, including a description of a trip to Germany in 1945 to study the German Wesche anti-radar rubber matting system. Roy Newton also served in the Hove (14th Battalion) Royal Sussex Home Guard where he was responsible for obtaining weapons and training his men in realistic battlefield exercises. He also provides some details of air and latter V rocket attacks on Hove and Croydon.
