Literary manuscript and personal papers of R Murray Gilchrist of Cartledge Hall, Derbyshire novelist (1868-1917). Donations, from several sources, 1957, 1966 (one item) and 1972. Records including:

 

Literary manuscript: novels and stories (some noted as published in "Sheffield Weekly Telegraph" and elsewhere).

 

Letters: from (among others) William Sharp, Larner Sugden, Kineton Parkes and (a few) H. G. Wells; also from publishers and editors of magazines. 1892-1898.

 

Diaries: 1909-1917 and commonplace book.

 

Family papers: Murray and Gilchrist 1828-1919; Frengel (connection unknown) 1836, 1849-1870.
