Description:

(i) Vincent Iremonger of Taunton, apothecary, and Thos. Darch of Churchill, surgeon, and w. Sarah (which Sarah and Vincent were the younger chdn. of John I. of Taunton, apothecary, and w. Eliz., decd., dau. of John Petten of Bishops Hull, soapboiler, decd.).

 

(ii) John Iremonger of Cheltenham (co. Gloucs.), apothecary (eldest s. of sd. J.I.).

 

(iii) Farnham Haskoll of Bishops Hull, gent. (surviving devisee and exor. in trust named in Will of sd. John Petten).

 

(iv) Thos. Wellman of Lower Poundisford in Pitminster, John Halliday of Yard near Taunton, and Isaac Wellman of Higher Poundisford, esqs., and Simon Wellman of Lower Poundisford, gent., (which four, together with Thos. Darch [above] are exors. and trustees of the Will of Thos. Darch of Bishops Hull, esq., who was another exor. and devisee in trust of John Petten, and sole exor. and resid. legatee of Susannah P., his widow).

 

[Recites: (A) Pre-nuptial Settlement, whereby certain lands in Leicester were conveyed to John Petten and two other trustees, to the use of the issue male of the sd. John Iremonger (father) and future wife Eliz. P. for portions for younger chdn., with power for sale and purchase of ppty. in fee or at a long term.

 

(B) Sale of the sd. ppty. for £1456.4s., whereof £748.16s.8d. was laid out in the purchase (for the remainder of a long term) of a messuage and lands in West Monkton.

 

(C) Bond in £800 for repayment of £400 (lent on a mortgage of a tenement near Twerton, co. Devon), dated 12 Feb. 1721/2: Thos. West, gent. and Mary and Eliz. Hartnoll, spinsters, all of Twerton, to John Petten and Thos. Bult.

 

(D) Will of John Iremonger, dated 2 Sep. 1724, whereby he devised: to his son John (at age of 21) his ppty. in West Monkton, £250, and a house in Taunton; and to his chdn. Vincent and Sarah I. (at age of 21) £300 each (the £600 to be raised under the Settlement [A] above).

 

(E) That the sd. John Petten and John Herring were resid. legatees, and J.P. became guardian to the 3 chdn.

 

(F) Will of sd. John Petten dated 11 Apr. 1738, devising his lands in [West] Monkton and Taunton to w. Susannah, Farnham Haskoll, gent., and Thos. Darch esq., his exors., to various uses. [Mentions estate called Tuthills, and a small estate called Hyde in Monkton].

 

(G) Death and Will of sd. Susannah, who appointed Thos. Darch as her exor., and death and Will of sd.T.D., who appointed Thos. Wellman [and ors. as in (iv) above] and Thos. Darch [as in (i) above] his exors. and trustees.

 

(H) Various mesne agreements concerning the sd. properties and trusts].
