There were 94 boys at the school in 1906. A Literary and Debating Society was formed in 1910 and an Officer Training Cadet corps in 1915. During the Second World War the school was evacuated to Penzance. In 1946 the school moved to the former Stoke Military Hospital, Plymouth.
