Administrative / biographical background: |
Dursley Market Place and Town Hall were erected in 1738, at the expense of the Lord of the Manor, to replace a "ruinous arcade". In 1841 the building was given to the town for the benefit of the people. The Town Trust was formed in 1889. The Trust finished in 1996 and is now subsumed into Dursley Town Council. |
