Administrative / biographical background:

Note on the boundaries of jurisdication

In the nineteenth century, Maidenhead borough covered an area which was bordered roughly by North Town, the river Thames, Braywick and the union workhouse. For example, the Modern ecclesiastical parishes of SS Andrew and Mary Magdalene, St Luke, and Boyn Hill were all within the borough; the areas of Pinkneys Green, Cox Green and Furze Platt, without.

The borough boundary was subsequently extended on 1 April 1934, by an order made by the Minister of Health under the Local Government Act 1929 S46, to include Furze Platt, Pinkneys Green and Maidenhead Thicket.

On 2 April 1962, the borough petty sessions were amalgamated with Maidenhead county division, to form Maidenhead division.
