Eckersleys Ltd was formed in 1901 with the amalgamation of James Eckersley and sons, Ltd. and Farrington Eckersley and Co., Ltd.. The spinning of coarse American yarns took place at Swan Meadow and Western Mills, Wigan.

 

Eckersleys were also noted for cloth manufacture.

 

They operated under the trade marks of 'cat-head', 'Robert Orme' and 'Eckersleys'.
