Administrative / biographical background:

Between 1793 and 1813 the St Neots Methodist Church seems to have been part of the St. Neots Circuit which then joined with the Huntingdon and St. Ives Circuit and the Ramsey Circuit to create the Hunts Mission Circuit in 1903. The St. Neots' Circuit then split from the Hunts Mission Circuit and reformed in 1934. The 1847 edition of Kelly's Directory records the presence of a Wesleyan Methodist chapel. The 1898 edition states, "The Wesleyan chapel in Huntingdon Street, erected in 1794 and rebuilt in 1868, has 600 sittings..."
