Administrative / biographical background:

Records of the administration by Rye Borough Council of the George Crowhurst Rubie Charity. It was established in December 1917 from a bequest by G C Rubie which provided an annual income of £78 to be applied in providing pensions of equal amounts for six poor widows of good character over the age of 65, resident in Rye for at least 20 years, and who have not received poor relief.
