Administrative / biographical background:

Ada Street Board School opened in 1885 with accommodation for mixed and infant children. It was re-organised between 1928 and 1932 into three departments for senior boys, junior mixed and infant children. The name of the school was changed to Ada Road Council School c. 1935 and again to St Andrew's County Primary School in 1954. The Senior Boys Department became a separate school in 1945.
