Description: |
Dr. Thomas H. Bickerton (1857-1933), a distinguished Liverpool opthalmic surgeon, was responsible for 'A Medical History of Liverpool from the Earliest Days to the Year 1920' (1936). The notes for the 'History' were deposited in the Library in 1936 (Ref. 942 BIC 13) and probably the correspondence listed below came with them. This correspondence has been transferred from the Autograph Letters. Most of the correspondence is with Dr. Thomas Shadford Walker (1835-85) under whom Dr. Bickerton served as assistant. He took over Dr. Walker's practice at 88 Rodney St. on his death, in partnership with Dr. George Stone. Walker either writes from his surgery or private address Holme Island, Grange over Sands. |
