Title: Aerial photographs taken by the Royal Air Force for the Ordnance Survey
Description:

Introduction

In the late 1940s, to meet a demand by planners, air photograph mosaics were prepared by the Ordnance Survey covering some areas where the 6-inch map was out of date and at approximately the same scale (1:10560). The mosaics were produced from vertical photographs taken by the Air Ministry, which were rectified and combined into mosaics on the same sheet lines as the eventual 6-inch maps of the National Grid series. Publication began in 1947 and ceased in 1952

Date: 1945-1950
