Official Fuhrer-Buch issued to Joseph Lochmatter in 1896, and containing testamonials written by climbers who had engaged Joseph as a guide. The first pages in the book (pp.86-88) contain a review of the entries in Joseph's previous notebook, written by W.M. Baker (AC). The book includes an entry by E.A. Fitzgerald (p.92), whom Joseph accompanied on a trip to the Andes in 1897. The final entry (p.191) was written after Joseph's death, and records his last outing before conscription. Joseph was the son of Joseph-Marie Lochmatter, and brother of Franz and Rudolph Lochmatter. He died in 1915 (see AL vol.XXIX, p.351). Dates: July 1896 - August 1914.
