Administrative / biographical background:

Hartfield Crescent County Modern School for Girls originated as the Senior Girls Department of Hartfield Crescent Council School [see S93]. it became a separate school in 1945 and in 1948 became a grammar school. Pupils already in the school remained and by 1952 the whole premises were used as a grammar school. The name changed to The Harrison Barrow County Grammar School for Girls in 1954. The school closed in 1971.
