Bequests include:- to eldest son Gyles Redman, customary messuage with appurts. called Hallgarths and all closes and peat mosses [as in conveyance 30 January 1629] also shop near the Cold Stone, Kendal over shop of Mr Richard Archer now in possession of Thomas Dodgson woollen draper, with presses and stop chists, of yearly rent 5s. payable to Mr Richard Archer; Gyles to pay out of said premises £160 to his brother Henry, £160, and to sister Ellin £80, and mother Elizabeth £50; if Gyles refuse, then all premises to go to his mother Elizabeth (wife of testator) to sell and pay said legacies;

 

- To wife Elizabeth for life, then to son Henry profits from burgage house and shops on west side of Stricklandgate, once in tenure of Mr Richard Lowry, Thomas Kendall, Jonathan Birkett, William Whitwell and Samuel Snell, also burgage house on Fellside, Kendal once in possession of Robert Fenton, part of lands of Heversham Grammar School, granted on trust 11 July 1696 by testator to Lancelot Foord and Joseph Symson; should Henry have no issue, then to daughter Ellin;

 

- To daughters Agnes Dixon and Katherine Gleest, 10s. each;

 

- To daughter Susan Singleton £5;

 

- To daughter Jennett Christopherson £7

 

- To grandson, Christopher Redman £2;

 

- To mother Park, 5s.;

 

- To sister Pearson 5s.;

 

- To granddaughter, Katherine Jones 5s.;

 

- To wife Ellin, yearly rent of £1 13s. 4d. from burgage house on west side of Stricklandgate, Kendal, in occupation of Mrs Court, widow as tenant to Mr Henry Cort, for her life, then to daughter Ellin.
