Description:

Minutes of the Walker Company, iron and steel founders originally of Grenoside, near Sheffield, later of Rotherham. Comprising of annual summaries of major works and financial returns 1741-1792 with an appended note for 1797. Transcribed from an original manuscript by Alfred Osten Walker and containing information on the activities of the firm's founding partners, notably Samuel Walker (d.1782), his brothers and family successors. The manuscript describes the rapid expansion and diversified interests of the company, including manufacture of guns for the Royal Navy.
