Administrative / biographical background:

According to the Liverpool Echo, 14 June, 1974, Hunt's Hotel opened in 1880 although the hotel is not listed in the Liverpool Directory until 1885 when it appears as a temperance hotel in 67 Mount Pleasant. By 1891 the hotel had moved to premises at 52 Mount Pleasant and Wm. H. Hunt is described in the Directory as a temperance hotel proprietor.

In 1974 the hotel was closed and the premises acquired by Liverpool University for student residential purposes.
