Description:

Letter from Major General A G O'Carroll Scott, Pavenham, dated 28th April 1961 addressed to "My dear Bernard"[West]? Advising that he has made enquires regarding the future running of Felmersham Pits. He considered it essential that the best relations should exist between the Trust and the local community. He had visited Leslie CHURCH of College Farm and Peter COOK of Harrowdene Farm both who had land bordering the Pits and both keen naturalists. They welcomed the idea of the Trust taking over the pits and were willing to serve on any committee which might be set up. The name supplied by[Bernard]would not be suitable for the post of part-time Warden and Mr CHURCH and Mr COOK would make enquires in the village. Itemised list of considerations which should be ready by the time the lease of the pits is signed. Ends by reminding[Bernard]that the fishing season would start in the middle of June and that the public will invade the place on the first fine weekend.
