Certificate by William Rogerson, Mayor of Chester, that Sir Henry Waterwart, late parson of Tylston, swore that the bounds of Rofforth were as follows: "be gynnyng at the Mer broke on the Northe party and so foloyng the said broke whyll hytte lastes, and fro thens leynially to the Monkes lach and so to the Pepynstrynde, and so leynially to the foote of Dogulles, and so foloyng Dogulles up wart to Ellerbeke broke, and so foloyng the saide broke upwart to the Oxpullach that the grene folde is at the foote of the saide lach, the wheche fold was maide be the tenauntes of Rofforth out of tyme of mynde, and so foloyng the saide Oxpullach whyll hyt lastes, and fro thens leynially to the hede of the Whytstrynd whece hase a pytte maide above hyt but a lytell space, and so the last that I was thar wer trees growyng in this saide pytte, and so foloyng the saide strynde to the Synkfall, and fro the Synkefall the water renning on whyle aboufe the erthe and other whyle under the erth in to the Blakepulles, and fro thens foloyng a dych in to the Mer." This was also sworn to by Sir Gelbart Hesketh, priest of Shotewykke. Seal.
