The latter occupied Bramall Hall with her husband Charles Nevill. The collection includes family magazines, travel diaries, letters, commonplace books, novels, poems, play scripts and more. The collection also contains signed novels and letters by American children's authors Kate Douglas Wiggin and Nora A. Smith. |

Miss Katharine Mary Holehouse Sidebottom (1890 - 1987), late of Sherwood 139 Bramhall Lane South, was the daughter of Fanny Elizabeth Booth and Henry Sidebottom. Her mother Fanny Elizabeth Booth (1853 - 1943) was born into a wealthy cotton spinner family from Rochdale and moved to the Stockport area after marrying Sidebottom, also a cotton manufacturer. Fanny's sister Mary Jane Booth (1851 - 1901) married Sir Charles Nevill and moved into Bramall Hall. Mary and Charles became known as the last occupants of the Hall. Katharine and Fanny E. Sidebottom are both published authors. Fanny published a book of poems, 'Across the Years', in 1911. Katharine wrote plays and published under the name of Katharine Holehouse. |
