Andrew Anderson (d 1878) was 'an able and zealous Indian ornithologist', who spent most of his life in the Indian Civil Service. He was famous as one of a group of civilians who defended the billiard room at Arra at the time of the Mutiny. He was in England on leave from 1869 to October 1871 and again from June 1877 until his death.
