Sardar Singh, born in Pakistan in 1933, is one of six children born to Feru Singh and Inder Kaur. Sardar Singh came to Britain in 1950 and settled in Manchester with his father who had come to Britain earlier. Sardar Singh, like his father, went into the peddling trade for a brief period. Later he became a driver for the R.A.F. He set up his own coal business in the early 1960s. Sardar Singh married Reeje Kaur in 1958. He now has seven children and is presently unemployed.
