Administrative / biographical background:

The Dilke Memorial Hospital was erected to the memory of Sir Charles Dilke, for many years M.P. for the Forest of Dean. It was built in 1922, and as extended in 1926 contained 30 beds. Further extensions have been made since 1948, and the hospital is still in use (1982)
