Tin box manufactures of Canonbury Works, Dorset Street, Islington. Founded in 1873 by Ernest Jahncke and incorporated in 1893. Bryant and May acquired an interest in 1895, Jahncke boxes being used for their wax vestas. A separate French company was formed in 1920 under the name of Établissements Jahncke which purchased a factory in Rue Levert, Paris (see D/B/BRY/4/8/58). Jahncke Ltd was liquidated in 1963.
