According to directories there was a brick-making business in Masbrough between 1845 and 1864 operated under the various names of Joseph, James and Francis Robinson. From 1868 to 1883 the partnership was James and George Robinson and from 1890 to 1897/8 George alone. (It is possible James (and Son) continued as a separate business in Sheffield.) The business continued from 1902 as George Robinson (Exors) until 1921 when it became a limited company. The last directory entry appears in 1948. The first mention of North Greaves brickworks is in 1876, where the firm remained until its closure
