Abstract of title of Thomas Whitmore esq to property in Stockton (Joseph Yates and Richard Poole)

 

12 November 1695 Will of Sir William Whitmore of Apley bart. He was seized in manors and property is cos Hertford, Middlesex, Salop, Worcester, Somerset, Cheshire, and Cumberland, part of which in Salop he had settled on his wife Mary as part of her jointure and charged other part in co Salop with £176.8.0 p.a. payable to her for life as the rest of the jointure; this he confirmed. He leaves his other property to issue male, and devised the whole of his estates (except the manor of East Br-- co Somerset) to George Weld of Willey and Thomas Wild of Bridgnorth esq to uses:- to use of William Whitmore of Slaughton, eldest son of Richard Whitmore of Slaughter co Glos esq decd and assigns for life, remainder to use of 1st son of body of William and heirs male with remainder in tail special, and to sons in succession with remainder to his own right heirs. An annuity of £100 p.a. out of the Shropshire estate to his cousin George Whitmore for life (who died 1719)

 

William Whitmore became possessed till his death in 1725 when Sir Thomas Whitmore (then a minor) became entitled and came of age 21 December 1732

Settlement on intended marriage of Thomas Whitmore and Anna Cope and £6000 portion. Term of 1000 years to raise £700 p.a. for Anna and £1200 for portions

 

26 July 1771 Will of Sir Thomas Whitmore KB. In case of failure of issue by his wife, he revoked settlement, reaffirmed annuity of £700 to wife adding further annuity of £500 and annuities to others (which have ceased). Before marriage of his daughter Anna Sophia with Anthony Deane the younger esq he agreed to pay £10,000 as portion as in settlement before the marriage. He therefore directed that the £10,000 should be discharged. On marriage of his daughter Mary with Major Thomas Whitmore he advanced and paid her a portion equivalent to what he had promised his other daughter and her husband accepted that as full satisfaction for her portion. To make a provisions for daughter Elizabeth, he bequeathed £10,000 to be paid as soon as possible after his decease with interest from that date at £4 %. Legacy of £500 to wife; All property to his son in law Anthony Deane and William Davenport DLD in trust to pay debts, remainder to heirs male of his body, remainder to brother George Whitmore and heirs male of his body, remainder to other sons of George, and heirs male of their bodies, remainder to Thomas Whitmore eldest son of his late brother Charles Whitmore for life, remainder to sons in succession in tail male, ultimately to his own right heirs. 23 October 1771 Codicil

 

3 February 1775 Deed poll by Dame Anna Whitmore of Bath widow and Elizabeth Whitmore of Bath spinster one of the 3 daughters. The £10,000 had been paid to Elizabeth and the £500 to Dame Anna

Sir Thomas Whitmore the testator d 1773 without altering the will except as to part of the devised premises viz the manors of Wolstaston als Woostaston, Smithcott als Smithcote under Longmynd, Picclescoate als Picclescotte and Lebotwood als Lybotwood; advowson of Wolstaston; and property late the inheritance of the testator's cousin Catherine Pope sp deceased which after his will by indentures of 1 and 2 October 1771 he conveyed to Deane and Davenport in trust. Annuitants of will long since decd Thomas Whitmore party now entitled to legal estate in fee simple. Conveyance of the whole property to him, his heirs and assigns, without prejudice to the charge of £800.
