History:	Giveon was an Israeli Egyptologist, professor of Egyptian Archaeology, head of the Egyptology section of the Department of Archaeology and Near Eastern, University of Tel Aviv from 1962 to 1982. From 1968, he carried our epigraphic work in Sinai. He specialised in Egyptian-Canaanite religions.
