History: | Son of Taylor and Sarah White (nee Woollston). Created a baronet on 20 Dec 1802 after twice raising, quartering, feeding, clothing and arming a force of volunteers to help defend the nation against possible invasions by Napoleon Bonaparte. The corps later became the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, Royal Yeomanry. He was a Colonel of the 3rd Nottinghamshire Militia. He married Elizabeth Blagg on 3 Jan 1801 and had eleven children, four of whom survived into adulthood. He died of heart disease on 28 October 1817. He was succeeded by his son, also Sir Thomas-Woollston White. |
