Title: Queen of Great Britain and Ireland
History: Daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent (fourth son of George III). Succeeded to the throne in June 1837 (aged 18) on the death of her uncle, William IV; crowned 28 June 1838. Married 10 Feb 1840 to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (given title of Prince Consort in 1857; died Dec 1861). In May 1876, the title Empress of India was conferred on her by the Royal Titles Bill. Died 22 Jan 1901 (aged 83) and was succeeded by eldest son, Edward VII.
