History: | William Joseph Eastwick was son of Robert William Eastwick & Lucy King. Born on 15 December 1808 and baptised on 7 January 1809 at St Pancras. He entered military service as cadet in Bombay on 5 January 1827. He served at Kalapore and South Mahratta country before passing his civil service examinations and joining the Political Department. He served as an assistant to Sir Henry Pottinger. Before going on to distinguish himself in the first Afghan War. He retired as a Captain on 1 June 1843 and returned to England. He married Mary Ann Haywood Cotes on 30 July 1841 in Beckenham, Bromley He died on 24 February 1889 at 12 Leinster Gardens, Hyde Park, London and was buried at Teddington, Surrey. bur 1889 Teddington |
