History: | In February 2002, the National Savings organisation became known as National Savings and Investments, and later this was shortened to NS&I. NS&I is a state-owned savings bank and an Executive Agency of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, accountable to HM Treasury. It is one of the UK's largest providers of savings products to personal savers and investors, including Premium Bonds. The main aim of NS&I is to attract funds from individual savers in the UK for the purposes of funding the government's public sector borrowing requirement. Towards this, NS&I offers a range of savings and investments specialising in tax-free and income generating products, all of which are 100% backed by HM Treasury. |
