History: By Royal Warrant, 11 Aug 1881, the designation of the companies of the Army Service Corps employed on commissariat and transport duties was altered to 'The Commissariat and Transport Corps'. By Royal Warrant, 12 Dec 1888, the above designation was re-altered to 'The Army Service Corps' (formed by amalgamation of Commissariat and Transport Staff, and Corps).
