History: | 1865 Apr 23: established as Military Staff Corps (soldiers). Headquarters at Woolwich. 1869 Nov 12: supply and transport functions reorganised as Army Service Corps. 1870 Apr 1: in consequence of the formation of the Control Department, the Military Train, Commissariat Staff Corps, and Military Store Staff Corps were discontinued as independent corps, and a new corps styled 'The Army Service Corps' raised, consisting in the first instance of volunteers from the disbanded corps. |
