History: | 1850-1851: a local corps consisting of three companies was ordered to be raised for service on the Gold Coast and to be styled the 'Gold Coast Corps'. On 9 Sept 1851 this corps was taken upon the Establishment of the Army. 1850-1857: Gold Coast Corps. In 1857 the corps was converted into an artillery corps, and was designated the 'Gold Coast Artillery Corps'. |
