History: In May 1940 responsibility for aircraft production had passed to the new Ministry of Aircraft Production; in August 1945 a combined Minister of Supply and Aircraft Production was appointed. On 1 April 1946 the Ministry was dissolved and its functions passed to the Ministry of Supply.
