History: | The Valuation Office was set up in 1910 by the Inland Revenue to carry out the task of valuing all property in the UK following The Finance Act of 1910 which introduced a new land value tax. It later took on other valuation responsibilities, including providing assistance to other government departments. On 30 Sept 1991 the separate Valuation Office organisations in England and Wales and in Scotland were merged to create the Valuation Office Agency. |
