History: Formed on 20 October 1970 and took over responsibilites for aerospace research, development and procurement from the Ministry of Technology's (Mintech) Aviation Group. Disbanded on 1 May 1971, with its major civil functions passing to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and defence functions to the MoD.
