History: | The Department of Employment and Productivity (DEP) was responsible for prices and incomes policy and labour and employment issues. It was created in April 1968 to take over the Ministry of Labour's functions and the incomes policy responsibilities of the Department of Economic Affairs, plus other functions inherited from the Board of Trade. It was also given charge of the National Board for Prices and Incomes. Functions inherited from the Board of Trade were transferred in October 1970 to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The DEP was then renamed the Department of Employment. |
