History: Created in 1988 by merger between the Council for Educational Technology (CET) and the Microelectronic Education Support Unit (MESU). Functions related to the promotion and development of educational technology. In 1998 the NCET was reconstituted as British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta).
