Date: 1997-2005
History: Established by the Pensions Act 1995 and became fully operational on 6 April 1997. OPRA's main task was to ensure compliance with relevant occupational pensions legislation, and also had responsibility for the Pension Schemes Registry. OPRA was dissolved under the Pensions Act 2004, with effect from 5 April 2005. Under the provisions of the Act, the Pensions Regulator inherited OPRA's assets and liabilities as well as residual duties and powers, as well as granting new powers and responsibilities.
