Title: Prince Charles of Lorraine
History: Austrian field marshal and administrator: Younger brother of Francis Stephen, archduke of Austria. Joined the Austrian army and campaigned against the Turks (1737–39) and Prussia, France, and Bavaria in the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–48). Field Marshal 1741. Took command of Austrian forces in Bohemia after Francis Stephen recalled. Skillful retreat from Chotusitz. Drove French and Bavarians from Bohemia and occupied Bavaria to the Rhine. In 1744, he became governor of the Austrian Netherlands, which he continued to administer until his death.
