History:	John Leitz was County Councillor (Neath North Ward) Glamorgan County Council 1967-1974 (Neath Citizens' and Ratepayers' Guild); JP Glamorgan 1971; Borough Councillor 1976-1979; Neath Community Councillor 1974-1983; chairman of Neath Community Council 1980/1. He was involved in the scout movement and was assistant county commissioner for West Glamorgan, a member of the National Council of the Scout Movement and Welsh Scout Council. He was awarded the Silver Acorn Award 1964. He was also a trustee and vice-chairman of the Neath branch of the RSPCA.
