In 1949 Danesbury Convalescent Home had 53 beds, which were all used for the treatment of tuberculosis. In 1955 it became known as the Danesbury Home for the Young Chronic Sick. In had 61 beds in 1958, but the number fell to 47 the next year, being reduced to 43 in 1964. In 1974 it became part of the East Hertfordshire District Health Authority in the North West Thames Regional Health Authority. In 1986-1992 it provided 26 beds for young, chronically sick, long stay patients. Following reform of the NHS it became part of the East Herts Health NHS Trust in 1992.
