Date: 1100-2000
History: The Bagot family was established at Bagot's Bromley (Staffordshire) by c.1166, and acquired Blithfield (Staffordshire) by marriage in the mid 14th century. Sir Walter Bagot, 3rd baronet, married in 1670 Jane, daughter and heir of Charles Salesbury of Bachymbyd and Pool Park (Denbighshire), whose family were extensive landowners in both Denbighshire and Merionethshire (Rhug etc.). Rhug, however, had descended not to Charles Salesbury but to his brother William, from whom it later passed to the Vaughan family of Nannau and the Wynn family, Barons Newborough. Pool Park was sold in 1928 and most of the Blithfield estate in 1961, following the death of the 6th Baron Bagot, although his widow acquired Blithfield Hall from her husband's trustees.

In 1883 the estates comprised 10,841 acres in Staffordshire, 18,044 acres in Denbighshire, and 1,658 acres in Merionethshire, worth a total of £22,212 a year.
